From The Principal's Desk
LaDarrion Jackson is a 14 year veteran educator with EBR, with more than half in a leadership capacity. As a graduate of Southern University, he is an avid Jaguar alumn and supporter of all things SU; especially Southern football in Mumford Stadium and the Human Jukebox Marching Band. Mr. Jackson credits the relationships established while attending SU for shaping both his teaching and leadership philosophies.
Principal Jackson joined the Forest Heights family in June of 2018 after several years as Principal of Ryan Elementary. Prior to taking over Ryan, he was a teacher, Dean of Students and later Assistant Principal at Park Elementary. He began his teaching career at Glen Oaks Middle where he taught Math & Science; even representing GOM as its Teacher of the Year in only his second-year teaching.
Mr. J is the husband to a beautiful wife, Sheri, and father to two awesome kids: Mason and Madyson. He credits them for keeping him grounded and whole. A native of small, rural Tallulah, LA, Principal Jackson relishes the opportunity to serve and support our youth. He has expressed countless times that much of what he is and aspire to be is because of the outstanding and outgoing educators he encountered while growing up in a teaching community. He believes that all children can and will learn if given the appropriate resources and supports and he dedicates every minute of every day making this a reality.
Establishing and maintaining healthy relationships with key stakeholders is a high priority for Mr. J. He believes that quality relationships make for optimum student success. Couple this with high quality instruction and compassionate and dedicated teachers, we have all the makings for sustained, school-wide excellence. As a parent and educator, he understands the needs and expectations of the 21st century learner and he is dedicated to providing quality educational experiences for all students at Forest Heights Academy of Excellence.
